Computer Problems-Sick Again

Hey y'all, hope everyone has been doing better than me!

First off, my computer has really been running super slow the past few weeks. A friend gave me some free software and boy did it open my eyes up. The software was "Super AntiSpyware" and " RegSeeker". I have been using Norton 360 which includes malware, spyware, firewall and anti-virus. Well I thought it did a good job! When I ran these two programs, I was shocked at the results. The spyware alone picked up over 1500 items and the other program picked up over 2000! That's a lot of "junk" just sitting on my computer taking up space and resources. I have been watching my programs resource usage and have to say that Internet Explorer takes up a bunch when it loads. It really bogs down the speed!

Mind you my system is 6 years old and the ram is not very high but up until the past month or so it has not been a problem. The only other thing I figure was a contributing factor is I recently put MS Office 2007 on the system. I honestly think that had a lot to do with things. I really need it for work and other projects so it has to stay.

I did some research about increasing the ram and figured it would cost about $60.00 for parts plus my time or someone else's to install etc and that's no promise that it will fix things. Last Saturday, I was out shopping at my friendly local Wal-Mart, checked the aisle for computers and low and behold on the bottom shelf was one lone Dell Inspiron 2.20 GHz, 2.0 GB ram and 280GB hard drive all for the reduced price of less than $300.00! I have to admit that my heart really started to race cause I knew there was NO way, I could upgrade my current system to equal or even get close to this. I finished my shopping and hurried home to discuss things with my better half. It wasn't long before we got in the truck and went and brought home the new "puter". What a joy and difference it has made!

Since then, I have been transferring files and programs to the new one and removing stuff from the old one. Not sure what we will do with the old one. It does run much better without all the programs I had on it. I guess it would make a great backup system for Internet and games.

Work went well this week. However, Wednesday I didn't go in due to some kind of stomach bug. Still felt cruddy on Friday but better today. Everything else has gone pretty good for the past few weeks. Just a big mess setting up the new system and changing all my email addresses to Gmail from Yahoo.

One last comment in passing, today is Pancake Day in our little community. Story we were told is that every year the residents here and the ancestors over in Croatia celebrate on the same day with pancakes. The town has a parade, food, crafts, walks and runs, basketball etc. A really fun day!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. More later------ (tea & crackers!)

Sounds really good with a new computer. The requirements for the laptop sounds like my own. I'm sorry to hear you are sick again, the stomach will go away quickly. Myself I'm battling with something in my throat that makes me cannot use my voice long time before I cannot speak clearly.

Computers, ugh I truly know absolutely nothing about them ( other then I NEED mine )& honestly I really should begin learning I am so glad to hear you found something you needed And you don't want to know what I want to do to the individuals who do the hacking & causing viruses & what not

I am glad to read you are feeling better Sadly it is kootie season The school is offering free seasonal flu shots for the kids, they are talking about swine flu shots, but I am considering passing on this one, too new, too unknown

There ain't NOTHING wrong with Pancake Day . . . for that matter Pancake Month is sounding really darn good too
